I am trying to copy documents directly from the printer.  I am not utilizing a laptop nor wireless connection to perform this task.  The document I need to copy is in the proper position on the scan tray.  I select the black/white print button and the printer appears to be copying/printing, however nothing copies from the original in scan tray!  How do I copy directly from printer utiizing the printer keys?

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are unable to copy on HP Deskjet 2540 Printer. I would like to help you resolve this issue. 

 

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

 

Open  the scanner lid and initiate copy to check if the scanner light is lit up and moving across the screen.

 

Meanwhile:

 

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.

I tried all your suggestion.  HP 2652 is THE biggest pc of junk I have ever owned.   it wil not even copy for me.  

wont print either.  I've reloaded, unpluged ,  tried all your sugfgestion.  I've gone through 2 ink cart. trying to get this machine to work

I have tried this and it is not working. The printer will print when sent from my laptop, but will not copy a document when placed on the copy window. This is a Deskjet 2540.

3. Error message (if any)
