I printed some photos just yesterday, so I know there is nothing wrong with the printer or the computer.  I just installed a BRAND NEW HP brand 61XL tri-color ink cartridge and it is printing ONLY blue.  These are expensive cartridges!  How can it be defective right out of the box!

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Apologies for the inconvenience. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

 

Clean the tri-color ink cartridge.

Perform steps 11 and 12 from this document. Kindly remove the black ink cartridge from the printer while cleaning the tri-color ink cartridge.

 

Once done, print a Print Quality Diagnostic page

Refer to step 8 from the same document attached above.
