Good evening,
Hoping you can help me as HP Support wanted to charge to discuss.
My parents have the basic HP Deskjet 2548 MF printer. It is connected to their home's wifi and works fine. My mom got a new ipad (tablet) for Christmas, so I downloaded the HP app and tried to setup the printer there.
Unfortunately, the instructions on the HP site say to connect to the PRINTER wifi option, rather than their normal home wifi network. When I do that, it asks for a password. I called HP and they said the default is 12345678, but that didn't work.
The screen on this printer is tiny and very minimalistic, so there are no easy options to go to a Menu and print a printer setup page or get the IP address (please someone advise if there is a shortcut to do so), which would allow me to manually setup the printer in the app.
I've read on some of these boards that people's printers printed out a page with the password, but when mine does that, it just prints a blank page.
Please advise what the printer wifi password is (since 12345678 isn't working), or how to find the IP address of the printer...or any other shortcut to make this work. It feels like this should be super easy and it's been a lot of wasted time thus far.
Thanks!

A warm welcome to HP Forums! This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
In order to connect the HP Deskjet 2548 to a wireless network we would either have to connect the printer to a computer using a USB cable and transfer wireless settings to the printer or use Wireless Protected Setup(WPS).
Do you have a computer and a printer USB cable?
Could you also check and let me know if your WiFi router has a WPS button on it.
