My HP Deskjet 2621 printer, 803 color ink cartridge, reported low ink level error, but when printing the test page, it showed normal ink level and there were no issues with the test page. However, when printing other documents, it reported low ink level error, making it impossible to print the document.
Anyway, thank you for your reply.

Hi @Richard_F14,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're experiencing an inconsistency between your HP Deskjet 2621 printer's ink level indicator and its actual ink usage. This is a common issue that can be caused by a few different factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
1. Reset the Printer
Sometimes, resetting the printer can resolve such inconsistencies.
- Turn off your printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then the printer.
- Turn the printer back on.
2. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer
Ensure that your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Firmware updates can sometimes fix bugs related to ink level detection.
- Go to the HP support website.
- Download and install any available firmware updates for your HP Deskjet 2621.
3. Reinstall the Ink Cartridges
Remove and reinstall the ink cartridges to ensure they are seated correctly.
- Turn on the printer.
- Open the ink cartridge access door.
- Wait for the ink carriage to move to the center.
- Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any damage or leaks.
- Reinstall the cartridges and close the access door.
4. Clean the Ink Cartridge Contacts
Dust and ink residue can sometimes cause issues with ink level detection.
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the ink cartridges.
- Use a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on the ink cartridges and inside the printer.
- Let the contacts dry completely before reinstalling the cartridges.
5. Print a Diagnostic Page
Printing a diagnostic page can help identify any issues with the printer.
- On the printer's control panel, press and hold the Cancel button and the Start Copy Color button simultaneously.
- Release the buttons when the diagnostic page begins to print.
- Review the diagnostic page for any issues with the ink levels or print quality.
6. Bypass the Ink Level Warning
If the printer is still reporting low ink levels but prints fine, you might be able to bypass the ink level warning.
- On some HP printers, you can bypass the ink level warning by pressing and holding the Cancel button for 10 seconds.
- Alternatively, you can disable the ink level monitoring feature in the printer settings on your computer.
7. Check for Software Issues Software and Drivers for HP DeskJet 2621 All-in-One Printer
Sometimes, the issue could be related to the printer software on your computer.
- Uninstall the HP printer software from your computer.
- Download and install the latest version of the printer software from the HP support website.
