Hi @Purpleseacat,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
To change the print settings on your Mac to print in color with your HP DeskJet 2820e All-In-One Printer, follow these steps:
Open the Document:
- Open the document you want to print.
Open the Print Dialog:
- Click File in the menu bar, then select Print.
- Alternatively, press Cmd + P.
Select the Printer:
- Ensure that your HP DeskJet 2820e is selected as the printer.
Access Printer Features:
- In the print dialog, look for a drop-down menu that might say Copies & Pages or show the application's name (e.g., Preview).
- Click this drop-down menu and select Print Settings or Printer Features. This option may have different names depending on the application and printer driver.
Change Color Settings:
- Look for an option labeled Color or Color Options.
- Ensure that the color mode is set to Color instead of Black & White or Grayscale.
Save Settings:
- After adjusting the color settings, click Print to print your document in color.
- If you want to save these settings as the default for future print jobs, you might need to adjust the settings in the printer's preferences.
Set Default Print Settings:
- Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
- Select Printers & Scanners.
- Choose your HP DeskJet 2820e printer from the list on the left.
- Click Options & Supplies, then go to the Options tab.
- Make sure the Color option is selected, and save the settings.
If you still cannot find the color settings, it may be due to the printer driver or software installation. Here are additional steps to ensure you have the correct driver:
Update Printer Drivers:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Enter your printer model (HP DeskJet 2820e) and download the latest drivers and software for your printer.
Use HP Smart App:
- Download and install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store.
- Open the HP Smart app and add your printer.
- Use the app to manage print settings, including color options.
If the problem persists, consider resetting the printing system:
- Reset the Printing System:
- Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
- Select Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select Reset printing system.
- Confirm the reset and then add your printer again.
By following these steps, you should be able to adjust the settings on your Mac to print in color with your HP DeskJet 2820e All-In-One Printer. If you continue to have trouble, I recommend you contact phone support for further assistance.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
