HP Deskjet 3055a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Deskjet 3055a has a new fault.  It is not printing but instead it displays 'printing ' and the progress bar scrolls as if it is about to print.  However, there is no noise to suggest that the printer is about to feed the paper.  This display just stays on the screen and it no error message is returned.  I can cancel print jobs from the printer menu.    I get exactly the same response when I try to make a copy as opposed to printing from the computer.

I have:

  • checked for paper jams.
  • cleared all print jobs .
  • unpluged the printer .
  • updated the driver software.
  • used the tools menu on the printer to clear any paper jams.
  • reset the wireless connection to default.

Please could you suggest possible fixes?

Please could you inform me how to complete an advanced reset to return the printer to factory defaults.

Many thanks

Sean

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.

I understand that the printer is trying to print and the printer is not picking up the paper, need not worry I'll be glad to help you.

Appreciate all your efforts in troubleshooting to get the issue resolved.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Is the copy working fine or are you facing the same issue while copying?

Solution one: Perform a reset

Sometimes, restarting the product can clear a paper feed issue. Follow these steps to perform a reset.

Step one: Reset the All-in-One

  1. Press the Power button () to turn on the product.

  2. With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.

  3. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  4. Wait at least 15 seconds.

  5. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.

  7. If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button () to turn it on.

Step two: Print a self-test report

Follow these steps to print a self-test report:

  1. Load plain white paper in the input tray.

  2. On the product control panel, press Setup (). The Setup menu displays.

  3. Press the button () next to the Down Arrow () to select Tools, and then press the button () next to OK. The Tools menu displays.

  4. Press the button () next to the Down Arrow () to select Printer Status Report, and then press the button () next to OK. The product prints the test page.

  • If the self-test report prints, try printing the original document again. If the issue is resolved, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.

  • If the issue persists, continue with the next solution.

  • If the self-test report does not print, Click on this link: https://hp.care/2qT4BYn for further troubleshooting steps.
