My printer had been working fine but recently I encountered a paper jam message when attempting to print a document. I cleared the jammed paper but to my surprise found a cardboard puzzle piece with the jammed paper! Most likely, this was done by my little grandson who used the room above the paper to store his puzzle piece that had been dragged in with the paper when I used the printer!
The printer has not printed properly with missing and fading text at every print attempt. Despite many attempts to clean the heads & cartridges both through software and manually, the alignment failure message persists. The cartridges in use are genuine hp and ink levels are fine.
Any suggestions to what has gone wrong and how to fix it will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I understand you are not able to print due to a paper jam error.
Please follow the steps given below
- Step 1: Restart the printer.
- Step 2: Make sure the printer rests on a flat surface.
- Step 3: Clear the paper jam from the printer.
- Step 4: Check to see if the cleanout door is warped.
- Step 5: Check the carriage path for obstructions.
- Step 6: Check the paper tray.
