I bought a brand new HP Deskjet 3636 last year and printed out a few letters.  I then put it on my shelf and over 12 months later have taken it back out to print something in colour.  Both cartridges are the ones provided with the printer and the colour one is showing to be full, but it just won't print in colour.  I've printed out about 10 Quality Diagnostic Reports, each prints out without any colour ink and the black ink blurry.  I have then cleaned the printhead about 5 times, each time I clean it and print out a test page, it prints out perfectly, only to get blurry again when I try and align it or print another quality report.  There's a lot of clicking and clacking noise when I'm trying to print these pages so it sounds like there is a problem inside the printer.  I'm really annoyed because what is the point of a printer if it doesn't print, and it's basically brand new, I've only printed 8 pages of letters.  Does it sound like an issue with the printer itself that I should contact the place I bought it from or is this a common issue?  Thanks everyone.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Over a period of 12 months, the ink cartridges tend to dry up. I recommend you try another set of cartridges and see if the issue persists.

Let me know if this helps.
