My printer is skipping lines while printing, I tried to print off a bill and parts of it are cut off horizontally. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer onto my Mac, updating the software, aligning, and cleaning the printer heads. When I try to print off the alignment page the printer is still skipping lines.
I don't know what else to do, any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Thanks for stopping by the HP community. A very good day to you. I will be glad to assist you and let’s get right to it. Superb description of the issue. It is amply appreciated.
- Did this occur after a recent software or OS update?
- Did you update the printer’s firmware and check again?
- Does it happen even while making photocopies directly from the printer?
- Did you try printing on normal paper and check if it prints correctly?
- Did you try a different paper brand that is compatible with the printer?
- Is this paper size supported by the printer?
- Share a screenshot of what you see exactly on the screen to assist you correctly.
I will be providing a roadmap with some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue. Let us try these steps:
Perform all the relevant steps from this link:https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-3700-all-in-one-printer-series/8954253/model/1126203... (HP Inkjet Printers - 'Alignment Unsuccessful' Error Message Displays)
- Step 1: Tips for understanding printer alignment messages
- Step 2: Reset the printer
- Step 3: Use genuine HP ink cartridges
- Step 4: Evaluate the alignment page
- Step 5: Check estimated ink levels and replace any low or empty ink cartridges
- Step 6: Clean the printhead or ink cartridge
- Step 7: Replace the printhead or ink cartridge.
- Also from this link: https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c02919168 follow instructions to update the printer's firmware via a USB cable.
Other things to try:
- Print on regular letter size paper and check again if it prints correctly.
- If it prints correctly, then change the paper type and paper brand for printing bills and check again.
- Make sure that the paper used for printing bills is compatible and supported by the printer.
- Run all the latest Mac OS updates and ensure that the most current ones are installed correctly.
Replacing the ink cartridge after identifying the faulty one should do the trick as long as the printer's hardware is not faulty. Otherwise, the printer needs to be replaced. I am being honest about it here by keeping your best interest in mind.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
