My HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3835 is connected and set up on my MAC OS 10.14.4. (and shows as it should).
However, it doesn't print from pages or numbers. But computer and printer do communicate as scanning works fine.
PDF files (sometimes) only printed partially.
I installed the latest firmware yesterday. When checking for a newer printer driver I only found a zip file for download, which my system couldn't open/ didn't recognize as a proper file.

A warm welcome to HP Community!
It sounds like an issue with the printer driver installed on your Mac. Removing the existing printer driver and then setting up the printer with Apple AirPrint may resolve the issue.
Here is how to do it:
Please ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with it's software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:
1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.
2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.
3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.
4.) Click the plus sign , click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.
5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.
6.) Try to print.
Let me know how it goes!

My printer was set the way you demonstrated it, however, I deleted it, re-installed it and rebooted the MAC.
Unfortunately the outcome is still the same.
I just printed a page from Safari (normal website Google search) and it did print correctly.
But it won't print from PAGES or NUMBERS, not even if I convert the files to PDF and try to print them from Adobe or Preview.
Thanks and have a great weekend!

Have you tried updating Pages and Numbers? If not, you may use the following steps to update the applications:
- Open the App Store app on your Mac.
- Click Updates in the App Store toolbar.
- Use the Update buttons to download and install any updates listed.

My apps are all up-to-date.
I even deleted Pages and reinstalled it to ensure there was no installation error.
Printing from OS and IOS (phone or iPad) produces the same results.
One thing that I noticed was that the driver used is referring to 3830 (as in driver for this family of printers) and not specifically to my printer (HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3835.
Thanks for your help,
Karl

The documents are correctly displayed in the preview and show up in the printer queue as they should.
It’s just that only parts, or nothing, of the documents are actually printed.
Then the documents “leave” the queue as the print job is completed.
And yes, the printer has new and HP ink cartridges.
i believe it must be the driver...and that’s up to date and reinstalled twice.

As I am running Mojave this wouldn't apply to me:
"Beginning with OS X El Capitan, system file permissions are automatically protected. It's no longer necessary to verify or repair permissions with Disk Utility."
