Hi, everyone! My HP Deskjet F2480 All-in-One printerp gives me the error "cartridge problem" in the HP Solution Centre whenever I have the black ink cartridge in the carriage. I bought a brand new original HP 60 black ink cartridge to see if that would solve the problem, but it didn't. When both Tri-color and black are in, 2 indicator lights on the control panel flash at me. These are the Attention light and check black cartridge light. When I remove the black cartridge, it doesn't. And it says "missing cartridge" in the Solution Centre. Basically my printer now only works when there is no black cartridge installed. PLEASE HELP!! I think I've tried everything to fix it already besides having it serviced.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post that you are having issues with the ink cartridge error on your HP DeskJet printer. Don't worry I'll be glad to help you.
Splendid effort and fabulous description of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. You are a valued HP customer and it is paramount to assist you here. I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you.
I see that you have already tried possible troubleshooting and unfortunately nothing has helped to resolve this issue. In this scenario, I would suggest you try these steps here and check if this helps.
Let's start off by updating the printer firmware. If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to install the latest firmware update on your printer from our HP support website. Alternatively you can also try to update the printer firmware directly from the printer control panel.
For more details on how to update, please use this link: HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to do a hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
Alternatively, I would suggest you follow the steps suggested in the support document for - HP Deskjet F2400 All-in-One Printer Series - 'Print Cartridge Failed', 'Cartridge Problem', or 'Inco...
If you have followed the steps suggested and still having the issue, I would suggest this could be a possible hardware failure with the printer.
I will share you a private message with details. Please watch your inbox for more information.
Let me know if this helps!
Have a great day ahead! 🙂
