HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2545 All-in-One
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My printer stopped printing the color red, and then the light came on indicating the color cartridge was low.  I changed the color cartridge with an HP cartridge and it still doesn't print the color red.  It prints yellow instead.  I searched this website and tried everything that made sense.  I cleaned the print heads, aligned them, printed a diagnostic report which told me absolutely nothing except the red didn't print, which I already knew.

I guess during the cleaning process, for some unknown reason, it uses ink.  I've cleaned the heads so many times that I've gone through about 3/4 of the new color cartridge and over half of the black ink cartridge that I replaced two days ago.  It's the XL size.  I can't afford to be wasting ink like this.  So I would greatly appreciate some suggestions that will work and not waste any more ink.

You would understand my frustration if you knew the long list of problems that I've had with this printer.  And this ink thing is a minor one.  I still have other problems with it but after working on them for almost a month with no resolution, I had to step away from working on them because I felt like my head was going to explode.

@CaroleCR There are two possibilities to your concern, it's either a software or a hardware issue depending on certain facts, the first thing we need to know, is the copier working as a stand alone device?

if yes, this could be a mere software/driver issue and you can follow the below steps:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.

If the issue persists, please go ahead and install the windows built-in drivers:

If a full feature driver from HP is not available for your printer, you must install the built-in print driver. A full feature driver for one or more Windows versions is not available for your printer, either from the CD that shipped with your printer or from the HP website.

   NOTE:

Where is the download button? The HP print driver is built into the Windows operating system or is installed through the Windows Update feature on your computer. You do not need to download anything from a website in order to print, scan, or fax.

See the Frequently asked questions in this document for additional information, including how to scan using this driver.
