For past year my HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer has not printed anything but blank pages — even the diagnostic print page does not work anymore, even with new ink installed. Just wasted money on ink thinking that was issue, would love a solve for this so I don't have to throw this barely used item in landfill?

Hi @Nstotler ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand it's frustrating to deal with a printer that only produces blank pages, especially after trying new ink cartridges without success. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:
- Check Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed and not empty. Sometimes, even new cartridges can be faulty or improperly installed.
- Clean Printhead: Over time, printheads can become clogged with dried ink, leading to blank pages. Most printers have a cleaning utility in the settings menu. Run the printhead cleaning cycle to see if it resolves the issue.
- Check Printer Settings: Make sure the printer settings are configured correctly. Sometimes, printing in "Draft" mode or with grayscale settings can result in blank pages.
- Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your specific printer model. Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer series
- Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to its factory defaults. This can often resolve software-related issues that may be causing the problem.
- Test with Another Device: Connect the printer to another device, such as a different computer or mobile device, and try printing from there. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or with the original device you were using.
- Inspect Paper Tray and Feed Mechanism: Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper tray or feed mechanism that could be preventing the paper from feeding properly.
