Welcome to the HP User Community.

The printer is capable of printing on this size paper though 6x10 inches is likely considered a Custom paper size.

The paper type is somewhat within the specifications, though you did not say whether it is Brochure paper or photo paper.

The likely source of the problem is one or more of:

  • In spite of the Specifications, the paper does not meet spec or is unsuitable for other reasons
  • The Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software is not installed - or is installed and is not working correctly
  • If needful for the software or application you are using to view and submit the job, there is no Custom Paper Size form created
  • The printer is not aware of the Paper Size & Type (paper loaded in the printer) - Tray and Paper Management
  • The Printing Preferences - Shortcut are either missing or incorrect for one or more of paper size / type / tray location (source)

>>> Check / Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software

The full driver provides the foundation on which other programs and printing software depend.

Preparation - Install Full Driver Printer Software

If you have not done so,

In addition to the HP Smart application,

Install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software for the printer.

HP Smart and other print software / applications benefit from having the full driver installed.

Make sure your VPN is switched Off when installing software.

Printer Software Check - Is the printer software installed?

Notes

When the full driver printer software is installed,

Find the printer software listed in Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features.

The installation of the full printer software adds two shortcut icons to the Desktop.

The Printer Assistant is named for the printer and provides access to Print , Scan , and Tools

HP Scan is named for itself and provides a direct call to the HP Scan software.

Next...

Printer software installed and  listed >> Software is out of date or not working?

NOTE:  If the printer software shows installed but is not working as expected,

Uninstall the printer software from Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features

Restart the computer and log in

What if?

If software will not uninstall, appears to be removed and is “still hanging around” after you uninstall / Restart...

Microsoft:  Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed

OR

Revo Uninstaller (Free version)

then

Restart the computer and log in

Reminder:  If using USB, disconnect the USB printer cable between the printer and the computer before installing software.  (Re)Connect the USB cable when instructed to do so near the end of the installation procedure.

===============================================================

Next,

Install a fresh copy of the Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software

Restart the computer and log in

Method - Use the Easy Start Software to Install the Full Feature / Full Driver Software

For printers that support the option,

Use the Easy Start Software wrapper to install and configure the printer software.

  • Home Page - HP Easy Start
  • Open Category Software and Drivers
  • Open Topic: Software-Utility
  • Download-and-Save  the current version of the Easy Start Software to install your print software
  • If using USB:  Disconnect the USB cable between the printer and computer before installing the software.
  • Right-Click on the downloaded package and "Run as Administrator" to start the installation
  • Select to install the “Full Driver” / “Full Feature Software” / "Basic" software
  • If using USB:  Connect the cable when instructed to do so (near the end of the installation process).
  • After the software is installed, Restart the computer and log in.

Optional Notes >> Easy Start... The Journey

  1. Full Administrator Rights are required to complete the HP Software installation.
  2. About 2/3 of the way through the setup, you will be given the opportunity to select the software - select the "Full Driver" set (as opposed to the Smart application).  If necessary, select the "Basic" Software.
  3. Skip / Ignore suggestion(s) that you add anything you do not want / need at the moment.  For example, you do not (at the time of installation) need an HP Account and you do not need or want to sign up for Instant Ink just because you are loading the printer software.
  4. Full driver provides access to the printer features on which other applications / software might depend.

Thankyou for your kind assistance. Unfortunately I did not succeed in installing Full Feature Software/Full Driver printer software. It stalled in Installing Networl  Device and then gave  up.

It may be incompatibility with Windows 11?

You are welcome.

Compatibility with Windows 11 is not the issue - printer full compatible with "11"-- nor is the issue related to the paper size question.

Can't Install Printer Software

What can it be?

Stalling when at this stage of the installation might mean the printer is not fully or correctly connected to the network.

This is less likely else you would have noticed the printer losing connection - which would then cause it to stop working.  For example, if you are running a Dual Band network - if the printer is not connected to its own SSID named network for one frequency or the other, the printer can lose connection.  Printers do not like "bouncing" between frequencies as might be the case when running a Mesh Network or advanced router configuration.  "Less Likely" does  not mean "not the source of the problem" - it just means that simply loading the software is not a prerequisite to this type of problem.

This type of failure can also indicate a connection type error.

This is possible - the loading of the software completes before the printer is then connected to the software.  If the connection fails at the final stage, the installation appears to fail.

Failing at this stage might also indicate that a previous installation of the software did not completely uninstall.  This is difficult to determine without knowing whether the full driver was previously installed in the first place.

What to do?

  • Eliminate the Dual Band network issue, if such exists.
  • Change the connection type to TCP/IP

  • Manually check / remove extra previously loaded software bits then retry the installation.   Ask if you need help with the  list of "where to look"

OR

  • At the least, try running the Offline Doctor to see if it can fix the problem for you.

Can't stand it?  Don't want to check / do / try the options?

Start with the last option and see if the Offline Doctor can fix the problem.

If you have installation, offline, or port issues, assign a TCP/IP port for the printer.

Also try for loss of color print options.

Method – Add printer using TCP/IP

Please try adding the printer using the printer’s IP address

Find the IP Address of the printer on the Printer Control / Display Panel (touch Wireless button)

Control Panel > icon view Devices and Printers

Click in the top ribbon, Add a Printer

Wait till the menu starts…
Select / Click The printer that I want isn’t listed
Select / Click Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname

Select / Click Next
Device Type > Select in Drop-Down Menu:  TCP/IP Device

Hostname or IP Address > Enter the IP Address of the printer

(Skip Port Name)

Select / Click Next

Complete any additional information

When printing, Select / Use this “added” printer to print your document / content

Offline Doctor

Resource – Choose the right doctor for the job

Open Website

HP Print and Scan Doctor for Windows

Click the green Download Now option / box

Wait!

If the problem / issue is one or more of

  • Printer is Offline
  • Cannot print in Color
  • Duplex printing has disappeared
  • Installation continues to fail

Try this “Offline” Doctor version:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

After the doctor runs, Restart the computer and log in.

Doctor will finish any necessary setups.

NOTES – The “Offline” doctor

As a result of repairing issues,

Offline / Color check / Duplex check version of the Doctor may replace the printer or add a “(Copy 1)” version of the driver in Devices and Printers.

If there are two printers in Devices and Printers,

If one of them does not work,

Try sending your job to the “Copy 1” named printer.

Later

If you want / need to rename the “Copy 1” printer:

Open Control Panel > icon view > Devices and Printers

Right-Click on the printer name > Printer Properties > Tab General >

In the top box, Edit the name of the printer (For example, remove the part that says “Copy 1”)

Click Apply / OK to save change

NOTE:  The name change may take a bit of time (a few minutes), else Restart the computer and log in.

It's OK now. Installation of Full feature software in Windows 11 ends confusingly and different from Windows 10.

Good news, then.

The printer software is compatible to both Windows 10 and Windows 11  - the software might certainly respond differently to a new environment.

Happy Printing.
