I understand that tray on the printer is too tight to allow the photo paper to be drawn.

As you mentioned that you still have 6 months warranty left on the printer.

Hi Chetan,

thanks for getting back and I have now contacted HP and they will be replacing the printer this coming Friday but just for future reference,these photo paper guides had the same mechanism on my previous HP printer which I returned to PC world the day after I bought it. The slide springs are too strong but I did put a note in the printer that's going back to help the techs at HP, thanks again for getting back to me.

It's unfortunate but having had just 1 photo printed on my replacement printer,the photo paper feeder has the same problem as the last 2 printers. The Spring guides on both sides of the photo feed tray is still holding the paper too tight and making the paper bend upwards in the middle. I believe that the only way to rectify this problem is to remove the spring loaded side guides and replace them with the same type of guide used on the main tray,where they are manually pushed inwards to lightly hold the paper. I have now looked up a few comments on line,regarding this problem and they have been advised that they can use the main paper tray to feed photo paper into the unit. I have just triad this and after a bit of fiddling around it works. What I don't understand is,possibly thousands of these printers have been sold but the spring photo guides have not been changed to manual adjustment but I'm not a engineer . If there is a way I could adjust the side springs so that they dong grip the photo paper too tight I would be happy to try.

apart from this,the first photo I printed was very good,

thank you, regards Keith Kempton

Hi,I have now solved the photo paper feed problem, I have had to buy HP photo paper which isn't cheap but it's the only photo paper this Envy 7640 will take and work. The other problem I have is that I can't get the printer to give me the option to choose photo tray as everything I try it always selects the main tray, any idea and just for information , I have watched all the videos,reset the printer but to no avail but I will install printer software again and see what happens,

@keith8179, thanks for the reply.

As you mentioned that your printer is working fine after using HP photo paper. I think it is a problem  with the photo paper you were using previously.

I would suggest you try with a different photo paper brand and check if you have issues.
