It has nothing to do with printing on one side or 2, it Jams on both. It looks like it Jams just under the metal flap right after the printer cartriages. The most current update we installed automaticaly. Aligning print head, Jam. Im Using HP 62XL print cartriages.

I tried customer service and they wanted to charge me for just over a year printer. If i do, im never buying another HP printer Ever AGAIN. HELP FIX. Its just over a year old.

Hello, @Spring569 – Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

Going through your post, I see that you are facing paper jam issues on your Envy 7640 printer. Greatly appreciate all your troubleshooting steps 🙂

The issue that you face is more related to the printer hardware than the software or the driver part. Hence, go to http://hp.care/2eY2kGJ and follow the steps mentioned under Solution 2 & Solution 3 (Make sure to perform all the cleaning process suggested to clean the rollers). Once done, follow the steps mentioned below to perform a power drain on the printer:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
  • Now, place a document face down on the scanner glass and press the copy option on the printer control panel. Let me know if it makes a good copy or not.
  • If the copy works fine, try making a print from the PC and check.

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

I have the same problem.  Try printing in COLOR - it's working for me.
