HP ENVY 7645 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

So at this point, these HP Envy 7645/7640 printers are showing up left & right at the thrift shops here in my area & I snatch them up whenever I come across one. I actually like these models better than most of the newer ones as they work great, they have an EXCELLENT touch screen, they can do a bit of everything, you can print/scan to them from MULTIPLE different sources, they have MULTIPLE connection options (both wireless & wired), & I always figure my way around setting them up at the point where most of the people who donated them probably gave up (as the setup process can be a bit of a headache & most people just don't want to be bothered [definitely not if/when the printer ever runs into an issue sometime after setup]). I currently have two 7645s here at home. I also have a 7640 with a missing lower tray section & presumably a bad print head (it only prints black, even when a new color cartridge is added & even when set to print in color on the computer). I believe the 7640 is the same printer according to what I read, but that's neither here nor there as it is currently out of commission. I have come across 3 other 7645s over the past week but I gave the other 3 7645s to mom (to add to the one she already has). As my luck would have it, I'm now noticing a minor issue with one of the 7645 printers I have.

In short, one of the two 7645s seems to ignore the "SLEEP MODE" setting, where the screen will never shut off regardless of what I have it set to (5 minutes, 10 minutes or 15 minutes). I've tried resetting the printer & I also attempted to use the "auto shut off" setting instead (accessible from the IP setup screen on the computer), yet the screen just never shuts off & I'm concerned that it may eventually go out if I'm never able to get it to shut off without completely powering off the printer. Has anyone ever had this issue & does anyone (at HP or elsewhere) happen to know how this can be fixed? Hoping someone can help! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!
