Just set up new HP ENVY 7858 and I notice the dark, richer colors are just not there. I don't know if it's specifically the black ink that's not responsive or the combination of colors that's not optimal. I compared the same photo on the same advanced 4x6 photo paper printed from Photoshop, using glossy photo paper setting, and my old HP 7515 printed better than the new ENVY 7858. When I view the photo from an angle I can see the ENVY 7858 photo produced a duller ink look, while the 7515 produced a richer, glossier photo. The 7515 has the separate photo black cartridge. Didn't matter whether I chose the printer or Photoshop to manage the colors. Any ideas on how to get the richer darker contrast? Note the 7515 print has the striped lines, one of the reasons to get the new printer. All fixes attempted, turned power off/on, cleaned /align head a billion times, etc.

I understand your concern. Try creating a custom profile for color photos. Refer to the document HP Printers - Creating Custom ICC Profiles for Color Photos for help.
