Hi @Alyssa1_-
Welcome to the HP support community.
I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.
1. Power Cycle the Printer
First, let's try a hard reset to see if it will resolve the issue.
- Unplug the Printer: Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.
- Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute. This will allow the printer to reset and clear any temporary issues.
- Plug the Printer Back In: Reconnect the power cable and press the Power button to turn it on.
- Check if the dot disappears or if the printer becomes responsive.
- If the printer still won’t turn on or respond, proceed to the next steps.
2. Check for Paper Jams or Obstructions
- Open the Printer: Lift the scanner lid or access the ink cartridge area.
- Look for Any Blockages: Check if any paper is stuck inside or if there are any other obstructions in the paper feed.
- Clear the Jam: If you find any paper stuck inside, gently remove it. Be sure to pull in the direction of the paper path to avoid damaging anything.
- Check the Ink Cartridges: Ensure that the ink cartridges are seated properly and that nothing is blocking the print head from moving freely.
3. Reset Printer Settings (Hard Reset)
- Turn off the Printer: Make sure the printer is powered off.
- Hold Down the Power Button: Press and hold the Power button for 15-30 seconds. This is often the reset procedure for many HP printers.
- Turn the Printer Back On: After holding the power button for a while, release it and try turning the printer back on.
4. Check for Firmware Issues
- HP Support Website: Visit HP’s official support site to check for any available firmware updates for your model.
- If the printer becomes responsive, you can try updating the firmware via the HP Smart app.
I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
