envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello

I have an Envy 4520 with latest drivers installed. I am running Win10.

I do not have an automatic duplex unit installed - well not to my knowledge and the option is greyed out in Win 10 printer properties / device settings

HOWEVER, I witnessed the printer performing automatic duplex printing the other day. I was amazed as a printed page was automatically sucked back in before before being returned again, printed on both sides. Unfortunately I can't remember how i did this. It may have been printing from Android via the HP Print Service Plugin. Either way I cant seem to recreate it, and I wonder if I will get to the point of thinking I just imagined it!

Any help much appreciated!

Hi,

Your printer does have automatic duplex print capabilities as standard:

Spoiler
Duplex Options: Automatic (standard);

https://store.hp.com/wcsstore/hpusstore/pdf/f0v69a.pdf

You may follow the below steps to print on both sides of the paper:

https://support.hp.com/rs-en/document/c04402029

if any such option is not available, ensure the duplex unit is installed for the driver:

Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Right-click the printer icon, then click Printer Properties.
Click the Device Settings tab.
Set the Automatic Two-Sided Duplex Accessory as installed and click OK to save the change.

Now Automatic Duplexing should become available.

Shlomi

Thanks for the reply, but as I mentioned in my first post, that option is greyed out. It is showing as "not installed".

Edit: I have fixed this myself. I went to change the "automatic configuration" option below the automatic duplexing unit option. I changed it from "off" to "update now" and this automatically changed the duplex unit setting to "installed". Happy days, it should now work but I will post here again if not.
