Getting Error Code 0X83C0002B as soon as the printer powers up. Tried to reset the power by pulling out the power cable, as per other posts in the community, but this does not work. Cannot reset the cartridges, as they are locked to the right and inaccessible.
Tried to raise this through the support Virtual Assistant, but it does not recognise the error code and I end up going round in circles.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Hi @Wozza88,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Envy 4527 - Error Code 0X83C0002B. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Let's perform a power drain:
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Remove the USB cable, if present.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
- Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle
Update the printer firmware
- Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your product
- Click here to know different methods of updating the printer firmware.
If the issue persists, then please follow the steps mentioned in this document:
For Windows
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor

- Click on the "Scan" tab.

- Click on the "Start Scan" button.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to fix the HP printer.
Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software
- Open the HP printer software.
- Click on the Device Status tab.
- In the "Status" column, click on the "Protected" tab.
- In the "Protected" column, click on the "Disable" button.
- Click on the "Apply" button to save the changes
Still not working? maybe try one of these options:
- Clear the printer queue.

Hello @Gaya1239,
Many thanks for the reply. Stepping through your suggestions:
- I had previously performed the "power drain" procedure without success, but tried it again anyway following your instructions. However, it made no difference and the printer still powers up to the same error code.
- Tried to update the firmware, but cannot do it directly on the printer as it does not initiate the control panel. Tried to connect the printer to my PC via USB, but it just shows as off-line and the firmware software cannot connect to it.
- Tried to run the HP Print and Scan Doctor with the printer connected via USB. It found the printer on the initial scan, but could not connect to it to run the diagnostics or fix (see screenshot below).
- There is no point disabling firewall or anti-virus software or updating the print driver or OS on my PC, as the printer does not even talk to any of my 3 PCs (running Windows & Linux) - it just shows the error code and does not show the control panel.
Hope you have some further suggestions...! 🙂

Hello @Gaya1239,
Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, I needed access to a printer at home and, with no other solutions available to me, I have now replaced the Envy 4527 with another printer.
Because my printer was a couple of years out of warranty, it would have cost me over £20 just to call the Phone Support Team as per your suggestion. With new printers now costing only a few pounds more, it didn't make sense to me when there was no guarantee they could fix the problem.
Thank you for your assistance with my problem, but I guess this one will remain unresolved.
Best wishes,
Wozza88
