HP Envy 4527

My HP Envy 4527 is suddenly rejecting the ink cartrdiges saying they are incompatible. We are members of the Instant Ink Scheme so have not bought the ink ourself. It is a not a new cartridge installation - this happened mid print. I have not used them in another printer, I have not made any changes etc. I have read a lot of other forum posts on this and carried out the troubleshooting that has been recommended to no avail. It seems the only solution is to be sent replacement cartridges according to other posts, but the virtual assistant can't help me with this. Please can someone contact me to discuss this further. Thank you.

Hey there! @Coookie, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Community!

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?

Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.

Replace low, empty or faulty ink cartridges on your printer.

By not wasting much of your time. Try few steps recommended below.

Remove, inspect, then reseat the ink cartridges

The printer might display an error if the ink cartridges are not correctly installed.

   NOTE:

If you are enrolled in the HP Instant Ink program, you receive special HP Instant Ink cartridges. Some HP Instant Ink cartridges are larger than standard ink cartridges, but they fit in the carriage in the same way. HP Instant Ink is not available in all countries/regions or for all printer models. For more information, go to HP Instant Ink.

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not on already.

  2. Gently grasp the handles on either side of the printer, then raise the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.

The carriage moves to the center of the printer.

  3. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you proceed.

  4. To release the ink cartridge, lift the lid on the ink cartridge slot, then gently push the lid back until it stops.

  5. Pull up on the ink cartridge to remove it from the slot.

  6. Inspect the contacts for any protective tape that still might be on the nozzles.

       CAUTION:

Do not touch the copper-colored contacts or the ink nozzles. Touching these parts can result in clogs, ink failure, and bad electrical connections.

  7. Remove the protective tape from the contacts, if necessary.

       CAUTION:

Do not try to remove the copper electrical strip.

  8. Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the nozzles toward the printer, then slide the ink cartridge forward into the slot.

  9. Close the lid on the ink cartridge slot to secure the ink cartridge into place.

Hello MrRobot.
Thank you for the reply. As luck would have it, i had some previous ink cartridges and it worked fine with these for a little while and then the same has happened again. If it is doing this with two sets of cartridges, am i to assume that the printer is faulty?
Thank you.

Hi,

Did you get your problem sorted? As in new ink cartridges sent?

I am having the same problem with my ink cartridges. They were brand new and my printer annoyingly isn't recognising this and thinks they're faulty.

Thanks
