The display says "....Ink cartridge problem ..... the following cartridges must be replaced.... nothing showing. However I have tried to replace the Black cartridge as when I go into Printers and supply in settings it says the black cartridge is out.

Thanks for stopping by the HP support forums and a very good day to you. it will be a pleasure to assist you here. I have looked into it. Superb description of the issue. It is amply appreciated.
- Did you replace all the ink cartridges and check again?
- DId this occur after a recent power outage or surge?
For now, try these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-deskjet-f4500-all-in-one-printer-series/3944755/model/394475... and follow instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer”
- Then update the printer’s firmware by following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c02919168
- Use a USB cable to update the printer’s firmware.
Now make photocopies directly from the printer without any communication from the computer to eliminate hardware issues with the printer.:
If it fails to copy correctly, then from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-5530-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304881/model/5304882/... (HP ENVY, HP DeskJet Printers - Resolving 'Ink Cartridge Problem' Error) perform all the prescribed steps and check if the issue gets resolved.
- Solution one: Make sure that the cartridges are compatible
- Solution two: Remove, inspect, and reseat the cartridges
- Solution three: Clean the electrical contacts
- Solution four: Remove and reinsert the cartridges again
- Solution five: Clean the cartridge contacts again
- Solution six: Restart the printer
- Solution seven: Identify the cartridge to replace
- Solution eight: Replace the cartridge
This should do the trick for you by replacing the faulty ink cartridge after identifying which one is faulty. This should work as long as the printer's hardware is not faulty. Otherwise, the printer needs to be replaced. I am being honest about it here by keeping your best interest in mind without beating around the bush.
I will send you a private message to assist you with the next course of action. Check your forum private message box in the upper right corner next to the bell icon.
Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
