Have just bought new HP Envy 5530 printer. Ink cartridges supplied with printer are HP 301 Black & TriCol, in sealed bags.
Have removed all tape, inserted cartridges correctly, and loaded paper.
Get error message - Cartridges are incompatible with printer.
Any ideas?

Thanks Jean. Got same suggestion from HP support as well. But I took it back to the store (PC World) and they exchanged it no problem. Also made sure new one was working ok before I took it.

Hi EllisD,
I'm sorry you are having difficulty getting your new printer to accept the ink cartridges.
There could be a problem with the electrical connections.
Here is a document that describes how to remove the cartridges and clean the contacts on them. Then re-insert them.
This should clear up the issue.
If you continue to have problems I would recommend returning the unit, if possible.
You can also contact HP Customer Support for an exchange if needed. HP contact information is at the bottom of the document.

• Examples: Upgrading your Operating System or installing a new software; or installing new hardware like a printer, modem, or router.
