I had purchased the HP Envy 5643 around 3 years ago and used it for printing without issue. Around 3 months ago, it said that the colored ink was low, so I removed the colored ink. It said it was now going to be printing in single cartridge mode, no issue as I rarely used color. I then sent a document to the printer and it said "attention required". So I go over to the printer and have no messages. I find nothing wrong with the printer at all, so I restart my computer and suddenly it begins to print the last document I asked it to print, but the other 9 items in the list to print are still there and the message "attention required" pops up. I look and the page is printed completely fine. I restart my computer again and it prints the document off, but now leaves 8 pages left. Too shorten that repetition up, I restarted my computer each time, I restarted about 50 times to get everything printed in total, just printing one page at a time.
My girlfriend's computer does the same trick, but it can print all pending documents before the "attention required" messages comes up. I can't really send my work documents to her computer each time I have to print, so I looked around and no one could solve this issue, it appears people just give up after the suggestions of going to your devices menu, deleting temporary files, restarting everything, and starting from scratch.
So I contacted my boss, had him purchase me a new HP Envy 5643 as I have $200 of ink for it stored up. The new printer arrives, looks the exact same, I plug it into the wall, I erase my old printer from my computer, I connect it to the internet, I connect to it and immediate click print, happy to finally have a working printer and "attention required" pops up. To my pain and shock, I consider if throwing it off my deck would be of better assistance, but like the slightly irrational human I am, I decide to come to this forum and hope that this is all a joke and I just pressed a button which also got pressed while the package was shipping, but can be a simple fix.
Steps I have taken:
Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers
Deleted Temp Printer Files after finding them from the Run menu
Deleted the printer spool files
Connected my printer to my phone's hot spot and my computer to the hot spot, attempting to print from that
and most of all, I have refrained from using physical force against the exterior of the printer..
Hopefully there is something I am missing. Any assistance please.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- Are you able to make a copy?
- Are you getting this error on the printer or the computer?
I recommend you run the HP print and scan doctor and check if it helps.
Please download and run the HP Print And Scan Doctor from this Link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe
Run PSDR v5.0.2
Once the PSDR detects the Printer, it will show up the IP address and Software Status.
Select the correct Printer and click on Next.
PSDR will check if the Printer is on the Network and communication between the PC and the Printer. Once the connection check is done, click on Fix Printing
Once PSDR goes through all checks and automatic fixes, click on Print a test page.
Regardless if PSDR printed the test page or not, click on “NO PRINT”
PSDR will then notify you that there is an update available, click on continue, and PSDR will apply the patch and ask for a reboot.
Post restart the PSDR will run automatically to check for more issue. If no issue found close PSDR.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Cheers!
