HP Envy 5660
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy 5600 wireless printer will not print anymore. Every time i try and print my job is stuck in the queue and Windows alerts my that my printer 'attention required'.

I have run through the print and scan doctor which says they have fixed the printer queue problem (even though nothing prints) and then when it asks to run a test print it also doesnt print.

Then it asks to run an internal test page that DOES print and says there is nothing it can do for me. That i need to uninstall and reinstall a fresh install of the printer, which i did and we are now back to where we started. Same problem is occuring.

Please help

@matthewlpowers

Thank you for joining HP Forums.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

As I understand the HP Envy 5660 isn't printing anything but test pages and has the message - "Attention required",

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you attempt to reinstall the driver/software from root level?

Or attempt a firmware upgrade to resolve this issue?

While you respond to that, The best way to do that is using the HP Guided Troubleshooter:

Click here to access it (simply select your description of the issue from the bottom of the screen to gain access to the next set of steps that should resolve your concern).

Also, here are the steps for a root-level software/driver re-installation:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click here to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install it.

Keep me posted,

If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hi @matthewlpowers

It looks like you were interacting with sandytechy20, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out. I'm KrazyToad & I'm at your service.

I have gone through your case and I suggest you uninstall the printer drivers from Root Level.

Let's start with a Printer Reset

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.
(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Restart the computer and download the Firmware and the Full Feature Software from Here and follow the onscreen Instructions

Let me know how it goes and if the issue persists.

Thank you 🙂

Hi @MrIshtar

Thanks for keeping me posted

I suggest you assign a Manual IP Address and check if that helps.

1) Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address or print a Network Configuration Page
2) Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
3) Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
4) Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
5) Click Manual IP
6) If you see a Suggest a Manual IP Address button, click Manual IP address, and the Manual IP addresses are automatically filled out for you.
7) If your page does not have a button to suggest a manual IP address, type the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway using the numbers shown in the report you printed.

Keep me posted.

Thanks
