I am unable to delete this post, so I've erased most of it instead.

The printer has never been problem free since I got it about 6 weeks ago.   It was constantly losing wifi connection in the middle of a print job.  This turned into the printer constantly rebooting at random when it wasn't even being used.   I have been struggling with it today and did eventually manage to factory reset it and redo the setup.  So far, it has not rebooted.  If this doesn't solve the issue, I think I may conclude it's a hardware issue, and I'll be getting a new printer.

My original post was quite cranky, so I have deleted the content.  🙂

Update:

This printer was on borrowed time with me.  I have never had such problems with any printer in my entire life, and after restoring to factory settings and giving it another try, it reverted back to the same behavior: losing the wifi connection in the middle of a print job (wifi flashes) and then it cannot resume the job from the Windows laptop.  At this moment, it has done this after page 1 of a 3 page job, and now the wifi has stopped flashing, but the red x has remained on.  Usually when the printer pulls this nonsense, the laptop spits out an error message.  It hasn't done that this time.

I've wasted too much time with this equipment, and I can only conclude that it's a hardware issue and unfixable.

As I said, brand new printer, in use for less than 6 weeks.

Oh, it just spit out a partially printed page 2 of the 3 page document is was supposed to print.  It has decided the job is complete and there is no problem.  It has been doing this from a Windows laptop and from an iPad as well.

This printer is headed to an electronics boneyard and I will be purchasing a new one tomorrow.
