Hi @estreetgirl,

A warm welcome to HP Community!

Increasing the print quality settings to Best might darken the image that you are printing. Here is how to do it:

1.) Open the document or photo you want to print, click File, click Print, and then click Show Details, if necessary.

2.) Click Media & Quality in the unnamed print options menu at the center of the dialog, and then move the Quality slider to Best.

Print dialog in macOS

3.) Click the Presets menu, and then select Save Current Settings as Preset.

4.) Click Print.

Once the print job is complete, the new preset will be set as default for future print jobs until you select a new preset.

Let me know how it goes!

This works well when printing pages off the internet. Can I just ask if there is a way of darkening when just photocopying something, like my daughter's pencil drawing? It is too light and I can't find a way to darken it. Sorry, I'm not very technical!

Yes, there is a way to darken a photo copy. The following steps will help you darken a photo copy:

1.) On the printer control panel display, touch Copy.

2.) Touch Settings, then scroll down and select Lighter/Darker.

3.) Move the slider to darken the image.
