Hello. My printer is completely non-responsive. When I unplug it and plug it back in directly to a wall socket, the screen illuminates and a loading bar appears. The loading bar moves and pretty quickly gets to complete, but then it stays there. There are a series of open circles below the bar. It stays on this screen indefinitely. I have tried keeping the printer on in this state for over 24 hours, and no change. I have tried unplugging the cord completely from both the wall and the printer for a while, and no change. I have tried connecting the printer to a different outlet, and no change. Each time the printer powers on, it goes into this state. I hear no whirring/machinery noises as is usual when the printer turns on. The only other button that is illuminated is the power button, and that button is non-responsive as well.
The printer was working fine about a month ago.

Hi @abarolin04,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy 6255 printer is stuck on the loading screen and unresponsive, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.
- Power cycle the printer: Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer. This can sometimes clear temporary glitches and allow the printer to boot up properly.
- Check for any error messages: If there are any error messages displayed on the printer's control panel, note them down. You can then search for these error messages in the printer's user manual or on the HP support website for specific troubleshooting steps.
- Update the firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues with the printer's performance. Visit the HP support website and search for the model number of your printer. Look for firmware updates available for your printer and follow the instructions provided to update the firmware.
- Perform a hard reset: A hard reset can help clear any internal memory or software issues. To perform a hard reset, turn off the printer, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer, and unplug it from the wall outlet. Wait for about 60 seconds, then reconnect the power cord to the printer and plug it back into the wall outlet. Turn on the printer and check if it boots up properly.
- Check for paper jams: Open the printer's input tray and check for any paper jams. If you find any, carefully remove the jammed paper. Paper jams can sometimes prevent the printer from functioning correctly.
- Reset the printer settings: On the printer's control panel, navigate to the settings menu and look for an option to reset the printer to its default settings. Select this option and confirm the reset. Note that this will erase any custom settings you have applied to the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the reply.
I have tried to power cycle and hard restart the printer but the same issue persists. There are no error messages visible since the screen is stuck on the loading screen and is unresponsive. No buttons work when it is in this state.
How can I update the firmware if I cannot access the printer menu or if I can't see the printer from my computer, even when it is plugged into via USB cable? My HP Smart app cannot find the printer.
