@Denise2025, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It seems that your HP Envy 6400e printer is facing issues with printing color documents from your iMac. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this issue:
Verify Printer Settings:
- Ensure that the printer is set to print in color. Check if the option to print in color is enabled in the printer settings on your iMac.
- Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners" > select your printer. Check the print settings to ensure that color printing is selected, rather than grayscale or black and white.
Check Document-Specific Settings:
- Sometimes, the settings within the document you are trying to print may need adjustment. Open the document and then revisit the print dialog box to see if there is a color option that needs to be checked.
Update or Reinstall Printer Driver:
- Since you have already updated the drivers, ensure that it is correctly installed. You might want to uninstall the printer driver and then reinstall it to ensure that there are no corrupted files causing this issue.
Check the Application's print settings.
- If you are printing from a specific application, check that app's settings. Some applications have their own print settings which might override the default color settings.
Reset Printing System:
- On your iMac, you can reset the printing system. Go to "System Preferences" > "Printers & Scanners", right-click in the list of printers on the left and choose "Reset Printing System". This will clear the current printer setup and you can re-add the printer.
