My printer no longer prints double sided, even tho when printing any kind of doc I select double-sided printing. I have gone through all the settings in the printer's control panel; I had seen a suggestion to find "print settings" under the main settings but that does not exist on my printer's panel, and there are no other locations in the panel where I can select double-sided/duplex printing. I have also gone through the settings for the device in the HP smart app, where I also find no option to change double-sided/duplex printing. I've also looked through my mac (Sonoma 14.6) printer settings and the print center's setting.

What else can I try???

Hi @sprinci,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Envy 7100 has stopped printing double-sided, despite selecting the option, here are some additional troubleshooting steps to try.

Check Printer Driver

  • Update/Reinstall the Driver: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Sometimes, the lack of duplex printing is due to outdated or corrupted drivers.
    • Visit HP's official website and search for the latest drivers for your HP Envy 7100, and reinstall them.

Print Preferences in Print Dialogue

  • When printing, ensure you are selecting the double-sided option within the print dialogue box, rather than through the control panel of the printer.
  • Mac Printing Settings:
    1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    2. Select your HP Envy 7100, and then click Options & Supplies.
    3. Look for a tab or setting related to "Duplex" or "Two-Sided Printing" (it may appear under the Driver tab or as a print setting under Quality).

HP Smart App (Mac)

  • Check the settings in the HP Smart app for any specific options regarding duplex printing:
    1. Open the HP Smart app.
    2. Click on Printer Settings.
    3. Look for Print Settings and ensure that duplex printing is selected there.

Printer Control Panel Check

  • Restore Printer Settings: If the duplex option isn't showing up on the control panel, you may want to reset the printer to its default settings, which can help restore missing options.
    1. On the printer, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Defaults.
    2. After resetting, check if the double-sided option returns.

Check for Paper Size Settings

  • Ensure that the paper size you're using is supported for duplex printing. Some paper sizes may not allow double-sided printing due to their design or the printer's settings.

Test Duplex Printing from Different Apps

  • Try printing double-sided from different apps (e.g., Word, Safari, etc.) to rule out an issue with a specific application.

Printer Firmware Update

  • Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes disable certain features.
    1. Check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or on the HP support website.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
