@Snoopyfan64,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Envy 7640 Wireless All-in-One Color Photo Printer is printing off-center. There could be a few reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially fix the problem:

  1. Check Paper Alignment: Ensure that the paper or photo paper you are using is correctly aligned in the paper tray. Adjust the paper guides to ensure they snugly hold the paper in place.

  2. Paper Type and Size Settings: Make sure that the paper type and size settings in both the printer driver on your computer and on the printer itself match the actual paper you're using. Incorrect settings can lead to misalignment issues.

  3. Print Margins: Check the print margins in your document or image software. If the content is too close to the edge of the paper, the printer might not be able to print it accurately. Adjust the margins if needed.

  4. Calibrate Printer: Some printers have a calibration or alignment function that can be accessed through the printer's menu or software on your computer. Run the calibration process to ensure the printer's printhead is aligned correctly.

  5. Clean Printhead: A misaligned or dirty printhead can also cause printing issues. Use the printer's maintenance tools to clean the printhead and ensure that it's working properly.

  6. Update Printer Drivers: Outdated or corrupted printer drivers can cause printing problems. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.

  7. Check for Firmware Updates: Make sure your printer's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes, firmware updates can improve printing accuracy and alignment: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-7640-e-all-in-one-printer-series/6617267/mo....

  8. Check for Physical Obstructions: Inspect the printer for any physical obstructions that might interfere with the paper feeding process. Even a small piece of debris can cause misalignment.

  9. Restart Printer: Sometimes a simple power cycle can resolve temporary issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

  10. Test with Different Paper: Try using a different type or brand of paper to see if the issue persists. It's possible that the paper you're using is causing the problem.

  11. Contact Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to HP customer support for further assistance. They might be able to provide additional guidance or recommend a solution specific to your printer model.

Remember to be patient and methodical while troubleshooting. Start with the simplest steps and gradually move to more complex solutions if necessary. Mind you, Step #11 would be the most, well, complex.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

NonSequitur777 - Thank you so much for your detailed explanation.  I found that my margins were off on my print screen.  They were marked "custom" and it was pushing the image to the left and off the page.  I have no idea how that got changed.

Thank you,
