Up until a few days ago, my printer was working fine. It now continues to display a Photo Tray Problem, stating that the photo tray is blocked. I have fully inspected the printer; there is no paper jammed and blocking the movement of the tray. The tray glides smoothly back and forth and the printer is sitting on a flat surface. It sounds like the printer tries to violently shove the photo tray out of printer.

I have tried cleaning all of the rollers and unplugging the device and restarting it. Even upon restart it tells me immediately that the tray is blocked. I downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor which has been no help. I have also tried printing with the output tray removed. Nothing is working. What other options are there?

@rmsnyder77, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are getting an error related to the photo tray. I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - 'Photo Tray Problem' Error

If the error persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware failure. Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
