So I've been battling this problem for AGES now and I have not found a solution.
My printer works FINE when I'm printing from a mobile device. It will SCAN to my computer perfectly fine. I can PRINT things like "Print Quality Diagnostic" from HP App from my computer just FINE.
But as soon as I attempt to PRINT any of my word docs, pdf's, or from the internet it goes into an ERROR state and just WILL NOT print.
I have the printer connected DIRECTLY with the USB, I've tried with Wi-Fi and still NO luck. I don't know what else to do. It worked fine ONE TIME when I first installed the printer into the computer and then it just suddenly stopped working the next day.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled programs MULTIPLE times and nothing has worked. I am using Windows 10 64-Bit. Please someone help before I lose my mind and trash this printer.

Welcome to the HP support community.
Follow the below steps to fix the issue and connect the printer to a Wifi connection.
Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix connectivity and printing issues.
Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
-
Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
-
Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
-
If your printer is not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
-
If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
-
-
If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
-
If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.
-
Try to print.
Assign a manual IP address and that should fix the issue.
A Network Configuration Page lists important network settings such as network status and the printer IP address.
-
Load letter or A4 unused, plain white paper into the input tray.
-
On the HP printer control panel, touch the Setup icon (
).
-
Touch Reports, and then touch Configuration Report. The HP printer prints the configuration report.
Setting a Static IP Address
Once you know your printer’s IP address from the page you printed, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:
- Run your Web browser.
- In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Connections, click Wireless.
- Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
- Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
- Click Apply.
