HP Envy 7640
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

I have tried every type of connection (USB, ehternet, wireless) on this printer, reinstalled it several times and it STILL WON"T PRINT.  It will copy, scan and fax but no print.  Interesting that it prints from my notebook, but not my desktop PC.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate.  I have fought with this printer for over a year now (thankfully I have an HP6310 that is a work horse).

Thanks

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP Envy 7640 Printer. I understand that you are unable to print from PC and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution.

Are you getting any error message while printing from PC?

Meanwhile:

Follow the below steps to fix the issue,

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity.

  1. From the computer you are trying to print from, download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor. When this link is clicked, HP Print and Scan Doctor is downloaded using your Internet browser's download capabilities.

  2. After opening Print and Scan Doctor, read and respond to the screens to resolve the problem.

Set the default printer and unpause printing.

Make sure the correct port is selected.

Create a manual connection.

Add a second printer device to Windows.

Add the printer using HP Printer Assistant.

Click here and refer the document to perform the above steps.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.

Have used the Print & Scan Doctor. Say I'm missing a driver so I reinstalled drivers again from HP website. Still will not print. Figured this was going to be a plug & play printer like all the other HP printers I've had...NOPE. Ordered a new driver CD and am hoping it fixes the problem.

Thanks for the reply.

I appreciate your time and effort.

Let me know if the issues fixes after installing the drivers.

You can also update the drivers automatically by installing HP Support Assistance software.

Click here and refer the document to download and know how to use the software.

Let me know if that helps.

Cheers.
