I see this is a very common problem that apparently needs direct HP Customer Support intervention to reset the printer. My printer is stuck at the first bootup screen. The first out of 7 blue dots is selected and the progress bar reached the end and stopped there. Printer appears to be offline in the HP Smart software. Yes, I followed the suggestions in previous posts about unplugging it. I left it unplugged overnight.

Hi @JoBo23,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Envy Photo 7155 printer. If you've already tried basic troubleshooting steps like unplugging the printer and leaving it unplugged overnight with no success, here are a few additional steps you can try.
Perform a Power Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Check for Obstructions:
- Ensure that there are no obstructions in the printer, such as paper jams or foreign objects. Open the printer cover and check for any visible issues.
Update Firmware:
- If possible, check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model on the HP support website. Updating the firmware may resolve certain issues.
Connect to a Different Power Source:
- Try connecting the printer to a different power outlet to rule out any issues with the power source.
Factory Reset:
- If none of the above steps work, you may consider performing a factory reset on your printer. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings you have configured on the printer.
- Refer to your printer's user manual or the HP support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
Before performing a factory reset, make sure to check the user manual or the HP support website for detailed instructions specific to your printer model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

1) I tried the power reset 2) I confirmed there are no obstructions 3) it is not possible to update the firmware because the printer never gets past the initial screen with the HP logo and the progress bar and the first blue dot of seven 4) I plugged the printer directly into a wall outlet after leaving it off for the last two days 5) the Factory Reset instructions I found say to press the power and wifi buttons simultaneously for three seconds. I tried that but again, it fails because the touch display is stuck on the first screen. The wifi button is not lit yet.
There has to be another "hard" reset option or you'll need to repair this printer for me. Send me an RMA number.

There is no way to submit a question to HP Support as you suggest. There is only a link to this Support Community and the Virtual Assistant which puts you through a never-ending loop of useless questions.
I have read in other posts in this Community of the exact same problem and the support person has said they would reach out in person with "specific" instructions to reset the printer. I am at that point now where none of the troubleshooting steps work. It is beginning to look like HP has bricked a whole lot of printers and there is no known fix. Please put me in contact with HP Support directly.

The printer is completely unable to boot up. It seems that this has recently happened to a lot of people with this same model. I've exhausted the support options. I will never buy another HP product. I'm buying a Brother compact laser printer without a required ink subscription. Bye, HP!
