HP ENVY Photo 7155 All-in-One Printer

HP Envy Photo 7155 shows "print carriage cannot move". There are no jams or obstructions. The carriage does move, but stops. Have tried unplugging power for 60 seconds or more, problem is persisting.

Hi @PetieOldguy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're encountering the "print carriage cannot move" error on your HP Envy Photo 7155 printer despite there being no visible jams or obstructions, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Check for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer cover and check for any debris or foreign objects that might be obstructing the movement of the print carriage.
  • Make sure there are no bits of paper, tape, or any other material blocking the carriage's path.

Manually Move the Carriage:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Gently move the carriage back and forth along the printer rail to ensure it can move freely. If there's any resistance or strange noises, there might be an internal issue.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Update Firmware/Software:

  • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website.
  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Inspect the carriage path for any damage or obstacles that may not be immediately visible.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect all cables from the printer, including USB and power cables.
  • Wait for about 10 minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cable and turn on the printer.

Check for Paper Sensor Issues:

  • Make sure there's no paper or foreign objects blocking the paper path or the paper sensor.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
