HP Envy Photo 7155
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I tried to update the driver for HP Envy Photo 7155 and it stopped before completing. Now my printer screen is stuck on Verifying... and has a spinning circle. The screen will not change. I can not turn it off without unplugging it. I have tried unplugging it. Pressing the power button for 15 seconds. Taking out the ink cartridges. After plugging it back in it continues to say verifying and spinning. The power button does not work, the X on the screen does not work.

I tried to find information on how to do a factory reset but all guides involve using the touchscreen, which is not responding in my case.

I found several other threads on this same issue. One has no replies (shoutout to user RD1911, whose post I basically copied and pasted into the first paragraph because it's the same issue). The other says that factory reset instructions have to be shared by private message as there are "details that cannot be shared in a public post." That's quite ridiculous, but okay, I'll bite:

Please tell me how to do a factory reset on this thing, by private message if you must.

@curtisHL, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is stuck. The factory reset will not work in this case. For a factory reset to work, you will have to access the home screen of the printer.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If this does not help, unplug the power cable and hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds and release it. Power on the printer and check.

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the service/replacement options for your printer.

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

@Kumar0307, thanks for your reply.

Disconnecting the power cord for 60 seconds+ did not fix the issue.

Unplugging the power cable, pressing the power button down for 15 seconds, releasing the power button, then re-connecting the power cable also did not fix the issue.

No matter what, when the printer powers back on it returns to the "Verifying..." screen.

As the printer is out of warranty, I don't believe there is any point in contacting Support, I will have to trash this printer.

I wish I had not followed HP's prompt to update firmware. The printer was functional before this.

@curtisHL

That's unfortunate. If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
