HP ENVY Photo 7130
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP Envy Photo 7130 and it currently only partially boots up, like it's frozen. The display is stuck on the usual start-up screen: HP logo, the blue bar filled up and the first blue bullet.

I've had the printer for 3 years and it's always worked just fine until now. Yesterday I inserted a new black ink cartridge and was able to print 1 page before the printer went offline. I checked the wifi connection, which was fine, and tried printing from both my smartphone and my laptop, but it just remained offline. So I shut the printer off, waited a few seconds and turned it on again but that's where it got stuck (see attached photo). I tried resetting according to some other posts but still nothing.

Does the printer need a hard reset?

This is what I have tried:

-unplugging the printer for various amounts of time, for up to 5 minutes before plugging in again

-held down the power button while plugging it in

-using HP print and scan doctor, it fails to communicate with the product, with and without USB cable

-using HP printer update to update the firmware, doesn't see the printer, with and without a USB cable

Here's what it looks like:

Thanks for any assistance!

Hi Sandy,

thank you for your reply and your private message. I tried the semi-full reset as described. Unfortunately I can't follow the steps because I can't press any of the buttons - neither the home button nor the reply button. And nothing happens on the screen because it's frozen: see photo below. I tried pushing the buttons anyway because I know where they should be but the printer didn't react at all.

So the problem persists.

Is there a way to do a FULL reset? Is there a reset button or something?

The printer just stopped working almost exactly 3 years after purchase - give or take 1 week. This planned obsolescence is so frustrating!
