Afternoon. I'm drawing a blank after hours of Googling/video watching /YouTubing etc.
My HP Envy 5540 printer won't print in colour. I have no option to choose colour when going into the printer settings, there is no choice at all there. All drivers are allegedly up to date, according to the system, and the printing test page comes out fine in colour
I have used various programmes to print and I NEED colour printing. I've now been at this for 7 hours and no joy. I've tried photos, images, text colours. I've set the printer settings to "colour" using sodapdf settings to print from there, and everything is coming out greyscale
All my inks are well in order, given I'm on instant ink, and every other possible setting has been tried.
Any solutions at all? There are absolutely no colour/greyscale options available to change or add or what have you , on any of the printer menu options either using HP onscreen or at the printer itself
Many thanks for reading.

Greetings!
Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, the printer is not printing in color from your Windows 10 computer.
Appreciate your trying the steps. Don't worry, I'm here to help!
Let' try these steps -
Step 1 HP Print and Scan Doctor -
Click on this link to download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor
Step 2 Re-install the printer drivers -
1) In the search box, type and open "Uninstall a Program".
2) Look for HP Printer software.
3) Right-click to uninstall.
4) In the search box, type and open “Devices and printers”.
5) In the Devices and Printers, look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose “Delete” or “Remove Device”.
6) Open the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”).
8) Click on the "Drivers" tab.
9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click “Remove” at the bottom.
10) Select Ok.
11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows.
12) Close Devices and Printers Once the software and drivers are removed.
13) Restart the computer.
14) Download and install the software and drivers from here.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply
I did uninstall etc. yesterday (not quite in the manner in which you've described) and reinstalled and still my laptop wasn't "seeing" (and still isn't) my printer as an option or a device on the Network.
I can now print, but using the HP Smart app, only. I went to the page link you provided anyway (thanks for the steps, if it continues to be a pain I'll go back and uninstall/reinstall again) and used those drivers to download for the reinstall.
