Hi @IRISHFORGE ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Inkjet 1050 J410 isn't printing black ink even after installing a new cartridge and there are no error messages, there are several potential causes and troubleshooting steps you can try:
- Check Ink Cartridge: Make sure the black ink cartridge is properly installed and securely seated in its slot. Sometimes cartridges can become loose during installation, preventing proper contact with the printer.
- Clean Printhead: The printhead may be clogged, especially if the printer hasn't been used for a while. Most HP printers have a built-in utility for cleaning the printhead. You can usually find this option in the printer's settings menu or by accessing it through the printer's control panel.
- Check Ink Levels: Even if the cartridge is new, it's possible that it may be defective or empty. Check the ink levels through the printer's control panel or by accessing the printer software on your computer.
- Print a Test Page: Print a test page to determine if the issue is specific to black ink or if there are other printing problems as well. This can help diagnose whether the issue lies with the cartridge, printhead, or another component of the printer.
- Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause printing issues. You can usually download the latest drivers from the HP website or through the software provided with your printer. Software and Drivers for HP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer series - J410
- Reset Printer: Try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve issues related to configuration or settings that may be causing the problem.
- Check Printer Settings: Make sure that the printer settings on your computer are configured correctly. Ensure that the printer is set to use the black ink cartridge and that there are no settings preventing it from printing in black.
