I have an HP LaserJet 4M Plus that has been working for 30 years now. The other day I was in the office when I heard a hissing sound coming from the printer followedby a bad burning electric smell. I immediately unplugged the printer. After wating for a couple of hours I plugged it back in. The printer worked a normal with no burning or errors. A few days later the test page came out as a negative image (white text on black smudged page). The printers laser then failed with "52 SERVICE" and restarted. When starting up again the laser motor didn't start as there was no sound. It's quite easy to hear the laser scanner on older HP LaserJets. The display then flickered and powered of completely. It then smells of burning again. I think it's the power supply falling but it could be another electric component. Could someone help me please.
