HP LaserJet Pro M15w Printer

I've seen countless posts about this same issue with no resolution. Out of seemingly nowhere the power and attention lights blink when turning on the printer, and it remains offline. My PC is also not able to recognize it when connected via USB.

I've tried the various reset steps shown in other posts, a factory reset (although the printer doesn't seem to respond to this at all), and purchasing a brand new toner cartridge as well - HP brand, the same as what I had in it before. I've also tried a different power cord and a new USB cord as well, plus different USB ports on my PC, with no results.

Am I just out of luck? I'd rather not have to buy a whole new printer, but after this nightmare it won't be HP.

Hi @Emfeldbauer,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already tried several troubleshooting steps, but let's try to narrow down the issue further.

  • Check Connections: Ensure that all connections are secure. This includes the power cord, USB cable, and any network cables if applicable. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause issues.
  • Power Cycle: Turn off the printer, unplug it from power, and wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on again. This can sometimes reset the printer's internal components.
  • Firmware Update: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model on the HP website. Updating the firmware can sometimes resolve various issues.
  • Driver Reinstallation: Uninstall the printer drivers from your computer completely, then reinstall them. Sometimes, corrupted drivers can cause communication issues between the printer and the computer.
  • Printer Self-Test: Try performing a self-test on the printer itself. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer hardware or if it's a communication problem with the computer. Consult your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a self-test.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Unfortunately the printer is completely unresponsive. I've tried simple power cycling, unplugging it overnight and different USB cables, but still get no response. I can press or press and hold the buttons but it .makes no difference.
