Hello.

I've installed a brand new 85A cartridge into my printer and continually get errors stating that this is not the correct cartridge for this machine. It's exactly like the one I replaced it with, a genuine HP product. It's about 5 years old but brand new.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything and continue to receive the same error.

When reinstalling the old 85A cartridge, it states there is no toner. It is recognized, but this identical brand new one is not.

Solutions would be greatly appreciated. I have never experienced as many issues with computer hardware as I have with HP printers. Such an incredible nightmare.

@plzhelpplz, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand the printer is not recognizing the black ink toner. KIndly perform the steps mentioned in this document - 'Install Black Cartridge' Displays

Make sure the ink toner is properly seated, you may refer to - Replacing the Toner Cartridge

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options.
