My HP LaserJet Printer P1006 stopped working. I checked all connections, changed the power surge protector and still doesn't work.

Hi @Mizzydog,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you've already done some basic troubleshooting for your HP LaserJet P1006, but since it still isn't working, let's go through a few more steps to diagnose the issue.

Power Reset

  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Disconnect the printer from the computer.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds before plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet (bypass the surge protector for this test).
  • Reconnect the printer and try powering it on again.

Check for Power Light

  • Ensure that the power indicator light on the printer is coming on.
  • If it remains off despite a good power source, the issue might be with the power supply or the internal components.

Test with a Different Outlet

  • Try plugging the printer into a different outlet to rule out an issue with the power source.

Check Printer Hardware

  • Inspect the power cable for any visible damage.
  • Ensure the connection between the printer and the power cable is secure.
  • You can also check if the printer fan or any internal components make noise when you attempt to turn it on (to check if power is at least reaching the device).

Reinstall the Printer Drivers

  • Even though this is less likely related to hardware, you might want to try reinstalling the printer drivers:
    • Disconnect the printer from the computer.
    • Uninstall the existing printer drivers from your computer.
    • Download the latest drivers for the HP LaserJet P1006 from the HP Support website.
    • Reconnect the printer and reinstall the drivers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
