I have a HP LaserJet Pro M428fdw connected to a corporate network with 5 workstations. Beginning of last week, one workstation stopped being able to print pdf. Every print resulted in an error 21.00.00 on the printer and an empty page coming out. Reinstalled all drivers, hp smart app,.. but did not fix the issue.

 

The days after, the other workstations started showing the same behavior. Until all stopped being able to print pdf's. Same error on printing. All other formats still printed fine.

 

I have now installed the HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PCL6 (32-bit) on all workstations, which fixes the issue and allows us to print pdf's using this driver. But the default drivers which are automatically added in Windows still do not work..

 

I'm wondering if a new driver update has been pushed through windows update which could have caused this abrupt issue?

Windows update can mess up original drivers making strange issues like yours.
