I have been trying to print onto Avery self adhesive label paper on my year-old, M479 color LaserJet Pro without success until recently.  Every print attempt results in speared or flaking color print regions.  From reading of similar problems on other LaserJet printers, I take it that I need to adjust the printer fuser to a higher temperature to better bond the toner to the label paper.  Thus far I have had a little luck by selecting 'cardstock' media settings to print to the Avery paper.

How do I directly access the printer's settings for the fuser.  I have looked at all of the settings on the printer LCD control panel and within the printer settings at my computer.  Unfortunately I haven't found any way so far to directly change the printer fuser temperature settings.  Is this level of print quality control even possible on this printer, and if so, how do I access it?

If you change the settings on the printer for the paper stock loaded to label type and tell the driver you are printing on label it should work fine. If set properly you should notice a dramatic reduction in print speed. As a Pro product I am not sure you have the same control over fuser temperatures as you do with Enterprise business products.

Unfortunately, I tried using the label media setting first, before I tried card stock.  Label media smeared just as much as printing to the Avery label paper with the default paper settings.
