HP LaserJet Pro P1102w Printer
macOS 10.15 Catalina

HP Laserjet 1102w just stopped printing.  No ink coming out on paper no matter what ink cartridge is installed.  Tried several brand new ink cartridges and nothing coming out on paper.  Is there a drum for this printer that could possibly need replacing.  We have 4 of these printers and I've never had this issue before.

The HP LaserJet Pro P1102w is a monochrome laser printer, so it uses toner cartridges rather than ink cartridges. If you are not getting any print on paper, there are several potential issues you can check:

Toner Cartridge:

  • Make sure that the toner cartridge is properly installed. Remove it and reseat it to ensure it is securely in place.
  • Confirm that you have removed the sealing tape from the toner cartridge before installation.
  • Try another toner cartridge to rule out the possibility of a faulty cartridge.

Paper Jam:

  • Check for any paper jams in the printer. Even a small piece of paper stuck in the paper path can disrupt printing.
  • Ensure that the paper tray is loaded correctly with the appropriate paper size and type.

Print Queue and Connection:

  • Check if there are any print jobs stuck in the print queue. Cancel or delete them and try printing a new document.
  • Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your computer or network.

Printer Driver:

  • Update or reinstall the printer driver. Go to the official HP website, download the latest driver for your operating system, and install it.

Print Settings:

  • Check the print settings to ensure that you have selected the correct printer and paper settings for your print job.

Printer Firmware:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP support website. Updating the firmware might resolve certain issues.

Cleaning the Printer:

  • Use the printer's cleaning function if available. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to clean the print heads or perform maintenance.
