Hi @Frank621,

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet M140we is showing “RD” on the display, the On button is blinking, and there’s no Wi-Fi connection or response from buttons. Let’s go through steps to troubleshoot this.

Power reset the printer
Turn off the printer and unplug it from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
This clears temporary firmware or hardware errors that may cause the “RD” code.

Check the printer display and error code
“RD” typically indicates a hardware or communication error (e.g., RAM or internal board).
Observe if the printer gives any additional blinking sequences after reset.

Disconnect network and USB devices
Unplug any USB or network cables connected to the printer.
Sometimes conflicting connections prevent normal startup and Wi-Fi initialization.

Check for firmware recovery
If the printer remains unresponsive, HP provides a firmware recovery tool:

On a computer, go to HP Support → Software & Drivers → HP LaserJet M140we → Firmware.

Follow instructions to reinstall or recover the printer firmware using a USB connection.

Temporary workaround

If you urgently need to print, you can try USB direct printing once firmware recovery is complete.

Avoid wireless printing until the “RD” error is cleared.

I hope this helps.
