I cant even register my printer with the serial number and product name to reach support as I could earlier when similar error ocurrd. Ít is like the printer dont exist anymore
The printer stopped working yesterday, I thought it need a new toner and i put one ine, that one do not work either. I have been printing offline with usb cable for the last year no problem. I am testing the different hp apps for troubleshooting. nothing. I put back the old toner and it starts to work for mabye an hour and now it stopped again to print on both toner.
Only time i can get it to print is if I let it rest for ca 10-15 min, I put back the old toner, then i can press out one print before is stops printing. When i push the print buttom on my computre, the printer react it starts to spin for a couple of seconds and then stop. I do not have access to 2.4 GHz wi-fi at the moment. I tried to put of a direct link between computer and printer unsuccessfully.

@lajis, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having a frustrating time with your HP Laserjet M140we printer. Let's try to troubleshoot this step-by-step:
✅Hard Reset the Printer
Do a full hardware reset:
- Disconnect USB cable from both printer and computer.
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait 3–5 minutes.
- Reconnect everything and power it on.
Then try printing with USB only, no apps or HP Smart.
✅Fully Uninstall and Reinstall Printer Drivers
On your PC:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Remove all instances of the M140 printer.
- Go to Device Manager > Print Queues, remove the device if listed.
- Now uninstall all HP software from Apps & Features.
- Restart your PC.
Then download the basic driver package here (not HP Smart): HP Support
✅Try HP Smart in USB Mode Only
- Download and use HP Smart only after a clean reinstall.
- Open HP Smart > click Add Printer > make sure to pick the USB version.
- Avoid adding the printer over Wi-Fi for now.
✅Check Cartridge Compatibility
Make sure the new toner is:
- Genuine HP.
- Not expired or used in another printer (some toners are "locked" after being installed in a different printer).
- Clean the chip/contact area gently with a microfiber cloth if needed.
✅Firmware Update (Optional but Suggested)
- If your printer prints even once, immediately go to HP Smart > Printer Settings > Update Firmware.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
